Welcome on the Elite Tools’ blog.

Let take a few minutes to make presentations if you want to.

I will start with the company.  Elite Tools is a retail store based in Levis on the St-Lawrence river‘s south shore in the region of Quebec City.  Elite Tools was founded more than 10 years ago by Mr. Patrick Garant who has a large experience of the industrial environment due mostly to the family enterprise, Mercier Inc.  Mr. Garant represents the fourth generation leading the company to which Elite Tools was added a few years ago.  Elite Tools’ mission is to offer our customers a range of specialized tools to meet woodworkers’ needs with an excellent customer service.  The company has moved into a larger building in 2012 to better serve its customers and have more room to display products from many leading brands such as Festool, Laguna, General, Freud, Incra, Makita, Milwaukee, Kreg, Bosch, Rockler and many more.  A large volume of the company’s business now goes through e-commerce using its website (http://www.elitetools.ca/en).

Elite Tools Store 2012

Now let’s talk about the author of the content you will be reading on this blog.  My name is Patrick Robitaille and I am an enthusiast woodworker.  This passion has grown for 8 years now and is still going strong.  I am by no mean a professional but simply passionate about woodworking and tools.  Woodworking for me is a way to change my mind from my regular work in computer programming.  I built several pieces of furniture at home and still plan about building many more in upcoming projects.

Since August 2013 I collaborate with Elite Tools doing translations from English to French for products descriptions displayed on the website and I also write content for this blog.  In the present blog I will cover various subjects giving me the opportunity to use several products that you can find at Elite Tools.  This could be a detailed review of a product or how a specific product can help us to complete an assembly technique, work method or finishing for example.

A little clarification important here: the tools I will be using here to do my entries are mine most of the time.  I don’t receive them as gifts or they are not loaned to me unless contrary notice.  This leaves me freedom to share my impressions, good or bad, as I am not tied to the manufacturer or reseller.

So I’m looking forward to share my experiments and my discoveries with you and maybe even have the chance to meet you during an in-store event at Elite Tools because I will sometime be present if time allows for that.

I bought this as a gift for my brother, having a few other damascas and 1060 carbon swords of my own that i maintain regularly. Im a little jealous, this sword is beautiful, balanced and strong, durable and sharp.
